DAWN

OVERVIEW

Built in 2012, the house evolved through small extensions of slabs and concrete columns, creating an uneven grid and a set of architectural contradictions on site. The new intervention embraces these fragments, treating the old structure not as something to correct but as a foundation to build upon. Existing materials are stretched to new possibilities, carrying their identity and imperfections into the added spaces.

Nature is drawn inward through layered, porous elements both visual and physical softening thresholds and deepening the home’s connection to its surroundings. Opening toward the eastern mountains, the house becomes a quiet convergence of past structure, new intention, and the landscape beyond.

Memory Embedded

Mangalore tiles, lime plaster, Kota stone, and wood form the project’s core material language. Each carries a distinct regional memory and tactile history. When brought together, they ground the space in its cultural lineage. Their interplay creates a quiet continuity between the past, the present, and the future.
